The Drive Team is made up of four key roles: the Driver, who controls the robot’s movement on the field; the Operator (Lifeboat), who manages the robot’s scoring mechanisms; the Human Player, who interacts with game elements from the sidelines; and the Drive Coach, who guides strategy and communication during matches. Working behind the scenes, the Scouting Team collects data on other robots throughout the event to inform strategic decisions, alliance selections, and match planning. Together, these roles are critical to a team’s success—combining communication, strategy, and real-time performance to represent what FIRST is all about.
