2 Weeks of Camp

The Mandeville High Robotics Team, The S.S. Prometheus, held two STEM camps over the summer for middle school and junior high students. The team hosted 15 campers during each session, where they learned about robotics, engineering and design. Teams of campers built robots with LEGO Mindstorms robotics kits to compete in a superhero themed game during the Friday Robot Showcase. Each session also enjoyed a trip to C-Innovation on Friday where they were able to learn more about robotics in the real world and see some underwater remotely operated vehicles up close. MHS students were highly involved in the planning, organizing and execution of the camp at all levels. Kudos to The S.S. Prometheus for a job well done!

Also, The S.S. Prometheus will be competing at the Dow Red Stick Rumble robotics competition on August 27th at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge. They will compete against other local teams to play the FIRST Robotics Competition game FIRST STRONGHOLD. The team will be competing with the robot they built during last season, dubbed “The Quacken” as they try to breach the defenses and take down the tower of the opposing teams. The S.S. Prometheus walked away from the Rumble champions last year. Will they be able to do so again? Come find out on August 27th!

The S.S. Prometheus is also proud to announce the return of their t-shirt launching robot, The Kracken! The team is working hard to prepare The Kracken for football season and is looking for sponsors to support the operation of the robot. We are also looking for t-shirts to launch. If you are interested in purchasing ad space or supplying t-shirts, please email mandevillerobotics@gmail.com for more information. Any clubs or school groups that would like for us to launch their t-shirts into the crowd only need to provide us with some shirts!
